Description.Our client is a growing consumer products company. They are looking for a Commodity Manager and the focus will be sourcing mechanical components. The company is located in a nice bedroom community near Oshkosh, WI. This is an organization where advancement opportunities exist for people who prove themselves. You will work under the direction of the Global Sourcing Director and be responsible for helping to develop and implement strategic commodity strategy through analysis of current spend, processes and practices, managing projects through to completion, maintaining and monitoring assigned suppliers, procurement administration, supplier sourcing.
Requirements: 1. Bachelors Degree in business, accounting, operations management or related field required and 3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. 2. Strong experience negotiating price, service and terms 3. The hiring manager wants a career driven professional, someone with fire in the belly. One indicator could be work towards either a CPIM or CPM certification or MBA 4. Good analytical and computer skills including spreadsheet (Excel) skills are must 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills 6. Proficient investigation and research skills. Any experience with global suppliers would be helpful 7. Good project management, material planning and inventory management skills are important in this role
Duties: 1. Implement cost, delivery, and quality improvement programs in the procurement of raw materials and finished components. 2. Manage supplier development, sourcing, and relationships, and contract administration for procurement. 3. You are accountable to drive execution and implementation of assigned project(s) & programs for procurement and provide routine updates to the organization on the progress and issues associated with product launches for projects assigned. 4. You are further accountable for ensuring that there are no unidentified technical issues from a supplier from a manufacturing capability and capacity perspective and that the supplier can meet all project or program schedules as a result of source selection. 5. Provide leadership to develop and improve new or low performing suppliers. 6. Conduct research to identify new sources, evaluate current suppliers, prepares reports and manage supplier relationships for assigned areas. 7. Evaluate current and potential suppliers for cost, quality and ability to maintain inventory levels as established by company standards. 8. Ensures supplier relationships are conducted in an ethical and business-like manner. 9. Facilitate cross-functional work groups to select new suppliers using cost based methods.
