Seeking a General Manager (GM) to provide focused leadership of small metals manufacturing business which results in healthy culture, effective operations, satisfied customers, and growth of revenue and profitability.

Primary Role Expectations: 
  • Promote the company mission, purpose, and core values in all activities and duties
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the company including marketing, sales, design, production, technical support, customer service, human resources, safety, and administrative activities
  • Actively engage as part of the leadership team
  • Operations
    • Create and implement policies and procedures to provide consistent guidance to functional teams while establishing a team oriented, customer service philosophy and supportive working environment
    • Coordinate work flow between departments and work areas
    • Know and understand current industry information to recommend manufacturing techniques and machinery
  • Planning and metrics
    • Establish operational and financial goals for the company in coordination with leadership and plan and direct all functions to meet these goals
    • Prepare the budget; measure and manage revenue and operating costs to increase profitability
    • Develop and implement the annual optimization plan with monthly goals and updates
    • Monitor costs and establish cost controls
    • Create unity by working with all employees and stakeholders to meet needs and improve processes
  • Personnel
    • Motivate and manage the team to meet operational and financial goals
    • Conduct regular management team meetings for information, discussion, and action for planning, strategy, forecasting, and operations
    • Encourage managers to optimize and innovate processes and products
    • Select, assign, and train staff; conduct performance reviews; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolving problems
    • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
    • Know each employee by name, demonstrate care, and build relationships as applicable
  • Sales, design, and customer service
    • Work to assure excellent customer relations
    • Set and monitor margins to determine pricing and sales approaches
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or industry-related field desired
  • Strong hands-on operational business acumen and experience with P&L responsibility with effective people and management skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable, industry, leadership experience, preferably in roll-forming
  • Strong knowledge in the design, production, and sales of steel products
  • Sales and financial background with an ability to generate organic growth
  • Experience and proven ability to implement effective systems, processes, and metrics
  • Strong ability to work effectively with diverse individuals from executives to floor employees
  • Entrepreneurial thinker, visionary with strategic planning skills
  • Knowledge in Lean, Kanban, or Six Sigma
  • Strong language, mathematical, and reasoning skills
  • Valid driver's license and record of the appropriate type and class to operate company vehicles

  • Perform the position’s physical functions with extensive mobility and ease including walking, sitting, standing, bending, talking, hearing, seeing, and using hands to operate tools necessary for the job
