Opportunity for a Product Manager that will work cross-functionally to help manage the product life cycle ‘cradle to grave’ for several categories across our client's aftermarket car accessories business. This position will drive execution of new product development and support marketing and commercialization of new products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as subject matter expert for assigned product families as required. Develops an expertise on products including a shareable knowledgebase on:
Product specifications (performance claims) and capabilities
Competitive offering, advantages, and weaknesses
Conduct product rationalization, point-of-sale analysis and reviews product return levels
Monitor customer activities (promotions, positioning, offering, displays, marketing, etc.) to identify potential opportunities
Research and recommend new products or market opportunities consistent with the NPD pipeline and innovation strategy, specifically participating in ideation, developing new product ideas for our funnel, and assisting the Director of Product Management in facilitating the brainstorming sessions
Lead the Production/Execution phase of product development:
Manage New Product Development ideation sheets and item set up within the system
Work closely with Engineering/ Product Designers, Merchandising/Operations, Quality, and Creative/Marketing teams on bringing products to fruition
Report to management on the status of new product development projects
Lead the Launch phase of new product development:
Collaborate with Marketing for development of New Product launch plans
Coordinate/create training documentation, how-to videos, content creation, sales support materials, and product samples
Monitor and report on launch plans for new products and specific success criteria per product (sell through, timeliness, placement, etc.)
Manage all signage and in-store fixtures programs – working to design new fixtures, managing the existing offering, and all sales support associated with supporting our customers at retail
Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent
5-7 years of product or brand management, marketing, or retail buying experience
Expertise with consumer package goods a plus!
Experience working with cross-functional teams and excellent communication skills is a must
Specific Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Travel: Estimated up to 5-10% of time for trade shows and customer meetings
