Senior Manager, Product Compliance
Our client is a major apparel company that develops, sources and markets a diverse line of men’s & women’s apparel under its highly recognized signature brand
. The Senior Manager, Product Compliance is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of all product safety programs including RSL, UL, PPE, and others as required. This position reports to the Director of Quality Raw Materials and will supervise the Compliance team, work with the Factories and Material Suppliers, and other groups such as Sourcing Operations and Development, to ensure that all materials used meet applicable product safety requirements
Lead and develop a team of professionals in accordance with company policies and applicable laws & regulations, including the Product Compliance Safety Specialist, Raw materials Analyst and the Compliance Coordinator
Build and manage an RSL/compliance program from front end of business
Manage and oversee RSL/Compliance process throughout SC cycle
Partner with Legal and Finance to mitigate risk for company
Participates in personnel decisions (interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, promotion, disciplinary action, staff development, coaching and counseling) regarding subordinate staff
Develop and maintain relationships with external facilities as well as global suppliers and vendors to ensure support of quality processes and conformance to requirements. This includes development of specifications and methods to measure performance.
Perform factory and supplier audits within the categories on the Restricted Substance List. Document and follow-up with the categories on corrective action requests and process change implementation for effectiveness.
Conduct root cause analysis and resolve issues in a timely manner, using cross-functional partnerships, to ensure cost-effective solutions that will prevent issue recurrence.
Develop strong relationships with our material and chemical suppliers to work in partnership to achieve RS Program goals. Assist Managers to qualify and certify suppliers for RS Compliance.
Educate others about the importance of RSL compliance issues, both internal and external. Keep current with industry trends and technical advancements.
Represent company on issues related to RSL Compliance.
Produce accurate reports, metrics and trends (qualitative and quantitative) by established deadlines.
Stay abreast of knowledge of the industry, related issues and materials.
Manage company involvement with AFIRM Group and other industry groups as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Textile, Environmental Science is required.
Must be expert with global chemical regulations like REACH as well as regional and state specific requirements.
A minimum of eight years of related work experience in the apparel/textile industry is required, including:
At least 4 years of leadership experience in quality management
A minimum of 5 years working with an RSL program
Experience working with materials and suppliers in the apparel industry
Ability to implement new programs and processes is required.
This is a new position, created to augment the quality/compliance leadership in the company as it continues to grow.
